Racist shop thief told security guard ‘You just bomb the place’ in shocking tirade of abuse
A racist shop thief shouted You just bomb the place at a security guard when he was caught stealing buffalo burgers. Jeffrey Carr also said He shouldn t be in this country he should go back to his country during the shocking rant inside an Iceland store, in Newcastle1. A court was told that the 55-year-old, who was described by his own solicitor as Hopeless and helpless at the time, launched the tirade of abuse towards the security guard when he was detained after trying to steal the burgers.
But, when police arrived, they charged him not only with the shop theft but also with a racially aggravated public order offence, charges to which he has now pleaded guilty. During a hearing at North Tyneside Magistrates Court2, District Judge Sarah Griffiths said it was astonishing people still used such vile language.

Reading through the details of the case, the judge added: He s in a shop and seen by a security guard taking burgers . He s challenged about it and initially just swears at him and says f*** you .
However, later when the police arrived, he makes a comment about the security guard and says he shouldn t even be in this country.
He then says He needs to go back to his country . He shouldn t be here, they just bomb the place . The court was told the offences happened on April 24 this year at an Iceland store in Newcastle.
Giving Carr, of Wilfred Street, Byker, an eight-week community order, with an eight-week curfew, as well as ordering him to pay 85 compensation, District Judge Griffiths said: In this day and age, this behaviour is completely unacceptable.
It s astonishing people still use such language, he should be ashamed . It has to stop.
In a statement, the security guard said: I expect an element of dislike towards me because of my job but I don t appreciate racism. Andy O Hanlon, mitigating, said Carr was now extremely remorseful and apologetic for his actions.
The solicitor added: At the time, he was homeless, hopeless and helpless .
He was drinking to heavily and the most important fact was he was not getting his medication.
He s suffered from mental health issues all his adult life.
